Something to ponder. This morning on the radio Bob Burnell said that Sue Schnorr told him recently that OASD has $18 million in reserve funds. That is $3 million more than we knew about.
He was also told that they wanted to save at least 10% percent of the budget for emergencies. Since Mack always says the operational budget is $107 million that would be $10.7 million that they need to keep on hand to be safe.
Assuming my math skills aren’t too rusty that would $18 million – 10.7 million or $7.3 million left and usable.
Do you know what that means? Their projected short fall for 2016-17 is $3.4 million and 2017-18 is $4 million. Assuming they are telling the truth. 3.4+4= $7.4 million.
Still with me? They want to spend 600,000 on security and have Ryf road for sale at $700,000.
These are all numbers from the district.
To sum it all up:
They have $7.3 million available in reserve + $700,000 = 8 million.
They want 3.4 million and 600,000 in the 1st year, so 4 million in year 1 and 4 million in year 2 is… 8 million!
ta da! So please tell me again why they need this referendum. Take those numbers Mr. Ford and plug them in you graphs.
I am not a financial expert by any stretch of the imagination by I just showed with simple math that THEY DO NOT NEED THIS REFERENDUM.
