The Oshkosh Area School District approved another energy efficiency exemption on Wednesday, August 17, 2016 citing an earlier deadline to submit the projects than previous years.
It’s the third time since 2012 the school board has approved the exemption, which allows for the district to exceed the tax levy and borrow as much as $21 million to pay for energy efficiency projects. In simplest terms, it’s a loophole that allows school districts to increase taxes to fund the projects without having to go to referendum.
Remember this when they come back in 2018 for another referendum because they cannot figure out how to budget. They do not have to. They will just continue to take more of your money.
